Description
Gahon Shu-yo, Vol. 1
Artist: Sekkosai (Terakawa Shigehusa)
Publication Year: 1784

This is a B5-sized framed artwork with an acrylic front and wooden frame. It is ready to be displayed as is. This is a superb piece for those interested in Edo-period antiques and fine art (antique miscellaneous goods), or for those who appreciate hanging scrolls.

Terai Shigehusa (birth and death dates unknown) was an ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period. Based on his artistic style, he is said to be a disciple of Nishikawa Sukenobu, but it is also suggested by Gahon Shu-yo that he studied the Kano school's techniques. He was from Osaka and lived in Ando-cho, Gochome. Ukiyo-eshi Den (Biographies of Ukiyo-e Artists) states, He used the art name Sekkosai, and besides his art name Shigehusa, he was also called Hisao, and later changed it to Hisafusa. His active period was from the Kan'en to Tenmei eras, and he worked on illustrations for printed books. (From Wikipedia)
