Description
Beautiful antique ivory/cream embroidered eyelet edging measuring approximately 2.5+ yards long x 3” wide. Fine lightweight cotton-type ground with elaborate tone-on-tone floral and foliate embroidery, openwork eyelets, and a deeply scalloped satin-stitched edge. A lovely example of early broderie anglaise-style machine embroidery, likely dating to the 1930s. The length includes a few original sewn joins as shown. Unfinished straight upper edge would have been sewn into a garment or linen, with the decorative scalloped edge exposed. Wonderful for heirloom sewing, antique garment restoration, doll clothing, period costuming, lingerie, baby garments or repurposing into special sewing projects.
