This is a vintage Japanese wooden writing bureau, estimated to have been produced around the early Showa period to pre-war era (circa 1930). Judging by its structure, materials, and hardware, it is a very old piece, likely a functional piece of furniture actually used in Japanese homes and shops of that time. It is a valuable item that conveys the historical context, possibly having been used even during the war.

When the upper flap is opened, it can be used as a desk, and the interior features a practical structure with partitioned shelves for documents and small drawers. The lower section has sliding door storage and drawers, making it versatile as both a study desk and storage furniture.

Made primarily of solid wood, it possesses a substantial feel not found in modern mass-produced furniture, and its wood grain, deepened by the passage of many years, is captivating. It blends naturally into any space, whether Japanese or Western in style.
