Description
The Maria Theresia pattern is a classic design originating from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, named after Empress Maria Theresa. It is characterized by its delicate floral motifs, often featuring roses, and is typically accented with gold trim. This pattern has been produced by various manufacturers over the years, with Carlsbad (now Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic) being a significant center for porcelain production in the region. Porcelain items from Carlsbad, particularly those with established patterns like Maria Theresia, are sought after by collectors for their elegance and historical association. The presence of gold trim and detailed hand-painted or transferred floral designs signifies a certain level of craftsmanship typical of European porcelain from the late 19th and early to mid-20th centuries.
