Purchased in France, this Belgian/English Victorian era (1837-1901) piece is a large lace fan, versatile as a berthe/collar, or a crescent-shaped doily. It's a beautiful antique lace featuring a mix of Bruges and Brussels Duchesse lace, with striking point de rose and intricate leaf patterns.
Features include:
- 8 classic roses of large, medium, and small sizes
- 3 budding roses
- Small flowers resembling primroses
- Daisies/Margaritas
- If my count is correct: 12 leaves with beautifully raised veins on the outer edge, and 6 leaves (large, medium, small) on the inner side.
- 3 clover leaves
- Small floral fruits, and large, fantastical flowers...
The cool, off-white/ecru lace is gracefully delicate, carrying the subtle nostalgia of a bygone era.

The openwork base, with varying densities, is all delicately bobbin-laced by hand.
The material is likely linen, with a crispness, body, and a slight sheen, offering a smooth and silky touch.
