About Sendai Tsuishu:
Sendai Tsuishu is a type of lacquerware made using a technique where a molded base or wooden base is coated with layers of red lacquer, and then aged with black. Its origins trace back to China, and it is said that in the Meiji era, Einojō Kawasaki, a craftsman of Murakami Tsuishu from Niigata Prefecture, came to Sendai and laid the foundation for Sendai Tsuishu.
Combining intricate carvings with the oriental beauty of red and black, Sendai Tsuishu is a proud craft of Sendai.
