Vintage‎ Elf Owl Figurine Andrea by Sadek Porcelain Japan Woodland Bird Decor

A small chip on one leaf tip is the only flaw on this piece (see photos for exact placement); otherwise, this vintage Elf Owl figurine is in excellent condition with crisp detail throughout. Made by Andrea by Sadek, a company that commissioned detailed porcelain animal figurines from Japanese artisans from the 1970s to the 1990s, known for naturalistic poses and hand-painted texture rather than the stiffer factory look of mass-produced decor from the same era. This particular owl is perched on a hollow tree-stump base with hand-painted holly leaves and berries, his soft, downturned gaze giving him real character. Measures approximately 8 tall. The underside bears the original gold foil Andrea by Sadek Made in Japan label along with Elf Owl by Andrea handwritten in the glaze, both intact and legible, a detail collectors of vintage Japanese porcelain often look for to confirm authenticity. A wonderful find for a serious figurine collector or anyone drawn to owl species in decorative art, not just a decor accent. The textured feather work on the wings and the naturalistic amber eyes are where the craftsmanship really shows. Ships wrapped in multiple layers of tissue and bubble wrap with the leaf extensions individually padded, then boxed with extra fill so nothing shifts in transit. Every piece has a past.
