Daiwa Goretex Shakedry DR-1221J

This is a rain jacket using Gore-Tex Shake Dry.

What is Shake Dry? Unlike regular Gore-Tex products, it has a 2-layer structure with the membrane on the outer surface. This makes it lightweight, provides semi-permanent water repellency without any additional treatment, and boasts exceptional breathability of up to approximately 98,000g/m²・24h.
On the other hand, because the membrane is on the outer surface, it is susceptible to abrasion and tearing, so caution is advised regarding its intended use.
The appearance is a semi-gloss dark gray, similar to leather products, making it a striking item in both performance and looks.
Many outdoor brands eliminate pockets and focus on lightweight compactness to maximize the performance of Shake Dry, but Daiwa's jacket is equipped with ventilation and pockets, making it very practical.

If the intended use matches, it is undoubtedly an exceptional item that will provide maximum comfort and become indispensable.
(I purchased this unused item, but unfortunately, the size did not fit me.
Therefore, it has only been tried on indoors.)
Although Shake Dry has been discontinued, its popularity is increasing year by year due to the recent trend of Gore-Tex becoming fluorine-free.
I personally own several other pieces.

Double hood structure to minimize water ingress from the hood opening.
Prints on the shoulders reduce fabric damage caused by friction with bags and life jackets.
Ventilation is incorporated in the armpits and inside pockets to regulate internal temperature and humidity.
Lightweight and thin double cuffs minimize water ingress from the cuffs and dry quickly even when wet.
Lightweight water-stop zippers are used for the front and each pocket.

*Due to the delicate structure with the breathable waterproof film on the outermost surface, it is not suitable for scenes with a lot of abrasion, such as bushwhacking or rocky shores.
