For cats and very small dogs, we select and peel the bark from aged, hard branches to create these toys.

Other commercially available branches also seem to last about a month, but for dogs in the nipping stage or strong-chewing Japanese male dogs, a thickness that they can barely hold onto will allow them to enjoy it for a longer time.

Pear wood branches are less likely to have splinters, and the wood shavings after chewing crumble like cork, so they are harmless if swallowed as it is fruit wood.

These branches are from pear trees grown in Niigata Prefecture. The bark has been peeled off one by one and dried for two years.

As these are amateur handmade items, they are cut with a chainsaw and the small branches are sanded with a belt sander (file), but please understand that there may be missed spots or cracks/splits due to excessive drying.
As it is wood, their teeth will not be damaged, and if you choose the size carefully, there is no risk of injuring their mouths, but please supervise them while they play.
