This is a weather predictor used by sailors and others in the 19th century, also known as a Storm Glass.
Principle: The liquid in the storm glass is sealed in a glass tube with camphor (camphor tree extract), ethanol, etc. It reacts to changes in climate such as atmospheric pressure, humidity, and temperature, causing the crystal shapes to change.
Climate Representation
Cloudy: The liquid becomes cloudy.
Clear: The liquid becomes clear, and crystals settle at the bottom.
Warming Up: Precipitates will only accumulate at a low level.
Rain: The amount of crystals increases, and small crystals float.
Snow: Delicate crystals like bird feathers accumulate at a high level.
Notes: As the crystal changes are slow, it can be used as a reference for weather prediction, but it is difficult to use as a practical predictor.
