Showa Retro Kukedai, Kakedai, Kakehari, Japanese Sewing Tools
This item was used in the Showa 20s-30s (1945-1964).
This is a set of a kuke-dai (quilting stand) and kake-hari (hanging needle) used for sewing fabric in Japanese tailoring (sewing).
The fabric on the part where the needle is inserted is damaged due to age-related deterioration.
*Please refer to the last photo.
?Purpose: It is a traditional sewing tool used to easily perform kuke-nui (quilting stitches) by stretching the fabric taut, resulting in neat stitches.
?Mechanism: You sit on the base to secure it, hook the fabric onto the tip of the upright pole, and hold the fabric with the hanging needle in your hand to work.
?Features: It is made of wood and has a retro atmosphere. It is sometimes still used as a Japanese tailoring tool today.
