Yoshino Hinoki Single Board, Naturally Dried, All Heartwood, Premium, Beautiful, Ultra-Luxury Solid Wood Hinoki Cutting Board

Thank you for looking! (^^)

This is a single board made from naturally dried Yoshino cypress, a proud Japanese timber.
I purchased it from a lumber dealer in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture.

For its size, it is a very rare, knot-free board made entirely of heartwood.
It may be difficult to tell from the images, but I specifically requested the lumber dealer to mill only the heartwood and knot-free sections.

Naturally dried lumber, unlike kiln-dried lumber, has a completely different, natural, and ultra-high-quality texture with its own unique aroma and color.

It does not have the harsh, unpleasant smell characteristic of kiln-dried wood.

It is extremely rare to find a knot-free, all-heartwood cypress board of this size.

Unlike sapwood, heartwood is resistant to termites and mold, making it exceptionally durable.

Many single boards are mixed heartwood and sapwood (genpei-zai), which are susceptible to mold when used for cutting boards, etc.

While cypress is said to be resistant to termites, this only applies to the heartwood; the sapwood is easily eaten.
You can find experimental sites by searching online.

However, all-heartwood lumber is resistant to mold, rot, and insects.

If used as a cutting board, it can last a lifetime! (^^)

Cypress boards of this size, made entirely of heartwood, are very rare, so I hope it will be used for a long time by those looking for a lifetime piece.

To avoid any issues, please refrain from purchasing if you are overly sensitive.

Thank you very much for your understanding. m(__)m
