This is 10g (approx. 300 seeds) of Shinano No. 1 Soba (Autumn Soba) seeds, grown naturally.

This variety requires 80 days from sowing to harvest, so please sow with enough time to account for the first frost.

It is very susceptible to waterlogging, so we recommend cultivating on raised beds or in well-draining soil.

For harvesting, cut at the base when 80-90% of the seeds have turned black, and dry in the sun for several days.

After drying, thresh by rubbing or beating on a blue tarp.

For small quantities, you can thresh immediately after harvest and spread them out in a sunny spot to dry.

After threshing, use a winnowing fan or similar tool to remove chaff by wind, separating only the seeds.

The harvested seeds should be further dried, then the husks removed with a mill or similar device (or you can leave the husks on). You can then dissolve the flour in hot water to make sobagaki (buckwheat dumplings) or form them into dumplings and boil them for an easy and delicious meal.

To prevent insects from hatching, we recommend storing the seeds in the refrigerator, as they may hatch if stored at room temperature.
