These are fresh seeds, newly harvested on May 26, 2026, in the morning from a home garden. They are ready for immediate planting and have a very high germination rate, quickly growing into trees.

The variety is called Kogara, a mid-season type weighing 10-13g with a sugar content of 20-25 degrees. It accounts for 98% of Taiwan's longan production, known for its abundant fruiting and large size. The fruit skin is yellowish-brown, becoming lighter in color at lower temperatures. It has high sugar content and is adaptable to a wide range of environments. In Honshu, the harvest season is from late September to early October.

The seeds have been treated to promote germination, so you will see results faster compared to seeds directly collected from commercially available frozen or fresh fruit. From our experience, it typically takes 3 to 4 years for trees grown from seed to bear their first small, grape-like fruits. Maintaining a consistent temperature, especially keeping it at a minimum of 5 degrees Celsius during winter, is crucial. The leaves are evergreen, and the plant is more cold-tolerant than lychee, thriving outdoors year-round in regions south of Kyushu. (While not yet proven for direct planting in mainland Japan, we assume it will be fine in Okinawa.)
