Final significant price reduction!
In Kanbun 1 (1661), Zoge-ya, the predecessor of Zohiko, opened its doors, beginning its journey as a lacquerware dealer. The renowned craftsman, Nishimura Hikohei the Third, who was granted the title of Maki-e Master by the Imperial Court, painted a maki-e (lacquer inlay) panel depicting White Elephant and Fugen Bosatsu in his later years. This artwork gained popularity in Kyoto, and people began referring to it as Zohiko's Panel, taking the character Zo (象) from Zoge-ya (象牙屋) and Hiko (彦) from Hikohei.
Since then, the popular name Zohiko has endured to this day.
Smooth and lustrous high-quality lacquerware. The meticulous lacquer coating is world-class.
A set of 5 very simple yet high-quality tea saucers. They were a gift, and I kept them with the intention of using them. They come with a box. They are unused, only opened. There are traces of tape on the box. Please understand.
