"ILBAU" 1990s Folding Ruler

This is a folding measuring tool, a Zollstock (folding ruler), featuring the logo of ILBAU, a former construction company originating from Austria.
Although the company name ILBAU no longer exists, its history is long, with its origins tracing back to a family-run construction business founded in Austria in 1835. In 1972, the company name was changed to ILBAU, and it rapidly expanded its scale. However, in 1998, it merged with Germany's STRABAG, and the company and logo named ILBAU disappeared from the public eye.
This particular item is believed to be from 1990 at the latest and was likely distributed as a novelty or promotional item by the company. The material is likely plastic.

The Zollstock is a measuring tool commonly used by German craftspeople. In German, it is called Zollstock. Its history is long, and since its invention in the mid-19th century, around 1851, this analog-style folding ruler has continued to be used. Even today, German home improvement stores have an entire section dedicated to them. In German workplaces, alongside the latest laser distance meters, this analog folding ruler is almost always present. One reason for its continued use is that it locks straight with a click when extended, making it suitable for measuring high or distant places by oneself.

At Selastor, we were drawn to the ILBAU logo, the overall texture, and the analog locking style, which led us to select this item. We believe it functions as a practical tool while also serving as a cool interior accent for your space. We encourage you to consider it.
