Edo Kiriko Cold Sake Cup Guinomi Ochoko
My grandfather purchased this at an antique market.
I am listing it for sale as I am organizing my belongings.
This may be an Edo Kiriko sake cup (ochoko).
It is a traditional Japanese craft with patterns etched onto the glass surface.
It features the iro-kise-garasu (colored overlay glass) technique, where colored glass is layered over clear glass, creating a deep luster through the reflection and transmission of light.
This technique has been passed down since the Edo period, and in the Meiji era, it incorporated European cut glass techniques to establish its unique craft methods.
We await purchases from those who understand that this is a used item and has been stored for a long time.
