Rare Early 1900s Kinsella Powder Shaker • Glass Bottle w/ Original Phenolic
Kinsella
Antique 1920's Kinsella glass shaker bottle with the raised 1874 mark, crest, and Deco side panels. This 4.5” molded bottle still has its original early-plastic screw top — a matte, phenolic/Bakelite-adjacent cap with a hand-punched hole pattern. The top shows age-appropriate breakdown, which is expected for early plastics. Kinsella made both spice shakers and utility shakers in the early 1900s. Spice shakers used the same glass mold but had precisely punched, uniform hole patterns. Utility versions (for talc, household powder, or borax) often came with these irregular, larger-hole caps, which are less commonly found today. Please zoom into photos to see the distinctive cap style. Interior iridescence is typical of antique glass that once held powder (a natural chemical reaction over time). A scarce piece for collectors of early plastics, apothecary bottles, or Chicago Kinsella ware. Size: 4.5” tall × 2” wide × 1.5” deep Condition: Interior glass iridescence, wear to cap, presents well.
