1913 Hand-Tinted Merry Christmas Postcard– Smiling Child with Socks & Dolls
N/A
Original 1913 German-printed Christmas postcard showing a young child smiling in bed beside several dolls and toys, with the caption Merry Xmas! in red along the left margin. The early hand-tinted surface creates a soft pastel effect with fine detailing on the bedding and figures. Reverse is postmarked South Ciacton, Vermont, Dec 22, 1913, with a 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp and written message reading: Message: Wishing you a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. Yours truly, John. 12/21/13. A charming antique Christmas greeting, representative of early Edwardian-era German chromolithography with vivid colors and sentimental themes.
