Vintage Chinese Bird Trinket Box Handcrafted Wicker Bamboo Estate Prize 9" x 13"

Amazing Estate Piece from Collection of Bird Figurines - It serves as a concealed trinket box as the Head & Neck piece is Removable to reveal a hidden Compartment inside the body.  Handcrafted of Wicker, Bamboo, & Carved Wood Beak & Legs; approximately 9 tall x 13 long.  This beautiful vintage handcrafted bird box is a unique and stunning piece of décor. It is unbranded without any kind of sticker or markings, but surely antique Chinese per the style of the weaving and shape. It is very sturdy and stands on its own two feet easily. The head is removable and reveals the inner hidden storage for its trinket box attributes. The tail is also removable and inserts into a slot in the rear and can be adjusted perhaps 1/2 for additional or lesser length. The head has a carved wood beak and painted inner mouth. The eyes look to be blown glass beads.  The bird is finished with ebony stain and lacquer, which over the years has aged and turned the natural wicker a golden color. The bamboo portions are the very thinly shaved layers laid in shingle fashion for the wings and tail feathers. Most were also ebonized for color and lacquered, though a few were purposefully left their natural color to add texture and realistic interest. The inside of the mouth was painted a pink color and also sealed with lacquer.  This bird is in excellent condition. I find no damage. The previous owner treasured it. and took excellent care to preserve it.
