Description
Silver five-point star medal with embossed central seal. Attached to a red velvet ribbon and ornate brass-toned bar. Distinctive vintage fraternal style. Great display piece. Note the back with the heart palm print. Belonged to my great great grandfather. Key Identification Features • Design: A silver-toned five-pointed star with a central circular emblem. • Central Imagery: A Hand-in-Heart symbol (an open palm with a red heart in the center), which is a primary symbol of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. • Ribbon: A red silk ribbon attached to a metal pin-back bar. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is an international non-political, non-sectarian fraternal organization founded in England in the 1700s. The Virginia branch has a long history, with some of its oldest lodges dating back to the 1830s and 1840s. Just a great piece of history .. Great on a jacket.
