Mid Century Tashiro Shoten Ltd. Japanese Vase

This unique vase has two handles and is hand painted with what looks like a Japanese warrior on one side, and a scene of the ocean and mountains on the other side. The background is dark brown with accents in burnt sienna, blue, green, and gold. There is a lot of beading work. The interior is an iridescent white. The Tashiro Shoten Ltd. elephant mark is on the underside along with Made in Japan. The Tashiro Shoten company closed in 1954. The piece measures 6 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide at the handles. The mouth is 2.5 inches in diameter. There are a couple of places where the thin line of gold paint has come off, most notably at the rim. But otherwise this vase is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. This vase is most unusual and should be a wonderful addition to your collection of Japanese art.   Thanks for looking!
