This item is from Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture, which began when the 9th lord of the Yonezawa domain, Harunori Uesugi, promoted the production of紬 (tsumugi) as part of his domain reforms.

This Yonezawa tsumugi has a unique texture due to the cotton wadding in the warp and silk thread in the weft, with kasuri kubiri. It has a strong ground thread, a beautiful luster, and the lightness of fluffy cotton wadding. When you hand-rub it, you can hear the squeaking sound of silk. It is a tightly woven cotton wadded silk.

The thick woven fabric has the unique luster of Yonezawa tsumugi.
With a pale gray color as the main color, the white woven threads stand out, expressing the complexity of the weave.
